Notice of 66th Annual Meeting

The 66th Annual Meeting (AM) of the Oshawa Historical Society (OHS) will take place on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 6pm. The Annual Meeting will take place at the McLaughlin Branch of the Oshawa Public Libraries, 65 Bagot Street, Oshawa, in the lower level auditorium. The AM will be for OHS members in good standing; members of the public are welcome to attend.



Following the AM, we are hosting our latest Speaker Series, where Nicole Adams, Local History Librarian, Oshawa Public Libraries will give a talk on Oshawa’s School of Nursing

March Local History Speaker Series- Oshawa’s Voices: Oral History Project Showcase

Launched in 2023 to prepare for our city’s centennial this year, the Oshawa Library’s “Memories of Oshawa” project is weaving a tapestry of the city’s history through the lived experiences of its residents. This initiative captures the unique perspectives and stories that have shaped the community. Join Local History Librarian Nicole Adams as she delves into the project, sharing evocative recordings and personal narratives that bring Oshawa’s past to life.

March’s Local History Speaker Series is taking place Tuesday, March 19 at 6PM. The Speaker Series will be held at the McLaughlin Branch of the Oshawa Public Libraries, in the lower level auditorium, located at 65 Bagot Street, Oshawa.

February Local History Speaker Series: Mostly True: A Unique History of Oshawa in Art

With whimsical characters and tales both true and tall, the Eric Sangwine art collection at the Oshawa Museum is a unique showcase of Oshawa’s history. On February 20, local artist Eric Sangwine joins the Local History Speaker Series to talk about his collection of artwork, now numbering over 100 pieces, each highlighting stories, people, legends, and lore from Oshawa’s history.
