Annual General Meeting – Review

Thank you to the 76 people in attendance at last night’s Annual General Meeting for the Oshawa Historical Society! It was a very busy evening, approving the Annual Report, Minutes from 2011 AGM and appointing Board Members.  We also commemorated our WONDERFUL volunteers, and Pat Davies was awarded the Earl Hann Volunteer of the Year Award for 2011.  Long standing members were also recognised by the awarding of membership pins.

The highlight of the evening was the talk on Oshawa’s shipping history, presented by Curator Melissa Cole!  She regaled us with the tales of shipping captains, sailing ships and, occasionally, sinking ships!  This talk was in anticipation of our upcoming exhibit, The Sea Shanty Exhibit: Exploring Oshawa’s Relationship With Lake Ontario.  This exhibit will be opening to the public on May 21!

It wouldn't be an AGM without cake!
