May Local History Speaker Series – Oshawa School of Nursing

Founded in 1910, the Oshawa General Hospital School of Nursing educated 1,198 nurses during its remarkable 60-year run. The school continuously adapted to the evolving healthcare landscape, ensuring its graduates were equipped to provide exceptional care. Its impact extended far beyond the hospital walls, contributing significantly to both Ontario’s healthcare system and the community’s overall progress. This rich history will be brought to life by Local History Librarian Nicole Adams and alumna Hilda Gatchell Finnegan, who will share captivating stories and insights about the school’s legacy.

May’s Local History Speaker Series is taking place Tuesday, May 21 at 6PM, immediately following the Oshawa Historical Society Annual Meeting. The Speaker Series will be held at the McLaughlin Branch of the Oshawa Public Libraries, in the lower level auditorium, located at 65 Bagot Street, Oshawa.

The Local History Speaker Series is an event presented in partnership between the Oshawa Historical Society and the Oshawa Public Libraries.

Information for the Annual Meeting will be shared in a separate post.
