Life in Upper Canada During 1812 – September 2012 Speaker Series

200 years ago, a bitter two year war between two neighbouring nations erupted, the war we know today as the War of 1812.  Renouned historian Dorothy Duncan will join us for September’s Speaker Series, bringing along her latest publication, telling us how those who lived in Upper Canada were ‘Hoping for the Best, Preparing for the Worst’ during the years of 1812-1814.   Her book focuses on the families, homes, gardens, farms, roads, villages, towns, shops, and fabric of everyday life in this frontier society.

The monthly meeting will happen on September 18 at 7PM.  The meeting takes place in the auditorium of the McLaughlin branch of the Oshawa Public Library.
