In 1995, the Oshawa Museum received a donation of letters from William Garrow, an Oshawa man who enlisted for World War I when he was just twenty-one years old. Jennifer Weymark, archivist for the Oshawa Museum, looks at his experience of the war through his letters, while comparing Garrow’s experiences to those of three other Oshawa citizens: a white nursing sister, a black soldier, and a conscripted white soldier.
The Oshawa Historical Society’s January Speaker Series is taking place Tuesday, January 21 at 7PM. The Speaker Series will be held at the Arts Resource Centre, located at 45 Queen Street, Oshawa.
