Thank you to everyone who submitted entries into the Robinson House Photography Contest. We received over 40 entries, and they were judged in early June by OCM Executive Director Laura Suchan, OCM Curator Melissa Cole, OCM Archivist Jennifer Weymark, Robert McLaughlin Gallery Curator of the Thomas Bouckley Collection Sonya Jones, and Oshawa Historical Society President Merle Cole.
We are pleased to announce that Mr. Don Wotton was the overall winner of the contest, and Mr. Wotton will receive a colour copy of the publication If This House Could Talk: The Story of Robinson House when it is released in October. Mr. Wotton will also receive mention in the Fall edition of Historical Happenings and a complimentary 1 year membership to the Oshawa Historical Society. Congratulations Mr. Wotton!
Honourable mentions are made to Paul Mitchell (for two photographs) and Linda Bazowsky. They will also receive mention in Fall’s Historical Happenings.
Be sure to look for the top 20 photographs at October’s RMGFridays! RMGFridays happen on the first Friday of every month at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery, 72 Queen Street, Oshawa. If This House Could Talk: The Story of Robinson House is officially launching on October 4 at RMGFridays, 7PM. Purchase your copy that evening, and cast your vote for your favourite photograph! A People’s Choice Award will be given that evening.
Thank you again to all those who submitted photographs, and we are looking forward to seeing you in October!
