On February 17, we welcomed Ajax Librarian Elaine Lievaart, who shared with us the history of Defense Industries Limited, a wartime company involved in the manufacture of bombs and munitions for World War II.  This company largely employed women, who became known as the Bomb Girls.  Lievaart discussed DIL, its employees, and how the presence of this company on the shores of Lake Ontario led to the eventual establishment of the Town of Ajax.
